Call for Housing Innovation
Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find additional helpful information on the Frey Foundation’s Call for Housing Innovation application, process, and more. If you have a question not listed below or wish to discuss further, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or (616) 451-0303.
Can current Frey Foundation grantees submit an idea?
Yes, any organization with tax exempt status with an idea for impacting housing security for the ALICE population in Kent County is encouraged to apply.
Can a private company with an innovative idea apply for the award?
No. Applicants must be tax exempt to be considered. However, private, for-profit entities may be included on a project team as long as there is a not for profit fiduciary leading the effort.
Our partners are considering an idea that would impact Kent County residents as well as surrounding Counties in the region. Is the Frey Foundation open to a multi-county idea?
Yes, multi-county ideas are welcome however; Frey Foundation’s innovation award dollars will be targeted to Kent County.
Is the cost to implement the innovative idea limited to the award amount of $150,000?
No. While the award is capped at $150,000, our intent is to attract a range of ideas in scope and scale. If your idea would require resources above and beyond the award amount, you will have an opportunity to share other potential sources of support on the application.
If I have questions or want to run my idea by someone at the foundation, who should I call?
Please feel free to contact a Frey Foundation program staff member at (616) 451-0303 or via email at [email protected]. Foundation staff can assist with technical and eligibility questions. However, the review of ideas will be undertaken by a diverse multi-sector selection committee. So, the idea must be submitted online in order to be considered.
